A while back I was wondering if there was a difference between the DyKem and the DyMark layout stains, they seemed to be made by the same company?
I got some DyKem from the US here is the comparison between DyKem Steel Blue, Rocol LOS, Dy-Mark LOS, DyKem Steel Red
IMG_1284.jpg
The DyKem Blue is more of a purple tint, than the dark blue of the Dy-Mark, and the DyKem smells different, ( I think acetate, maybe?) so they are not the same.
That's a piece of 01 steel that BT has kindly sent over for Helmut's Plane chip breaker. I hope to lay it out over the weekend, and that will provide a bit of a test to see which LOS holds a line better and which is clearer.
For those who like watching ClickSpring videos, you might notice the stain he uses has a purplish colour, That's the colour of the DyKem stain.
Ray
PS, The Rocol, has been diluted with Metho a few times, so, it's probably not a good indication.
