I have made a new back plate for a 6"chuck . Been thinking about how to accurately drill the three holes to line up with the tapped holes in the chuck.
One method is to use transfer punches , turn a sharp pointy taper on three threaded rods and screw them into the chuck, then stick some adhesive masking tape onto the backplate , colour in the tape with a blue marker, then mount the backplate and press down so the pointy ends will mark the positions . Are there any other methods ? Mike
