What wood is this?

vendredi 20 juin 2014

I would appreciate it if anyone in any forum could identify the timber this bowl is made from. I found it in my Dad's wood pile after he died, and it was a pretty horrible looking rough turned and oval blank that he had obviously turned green, as it still had the dates and weights written on it from back in 2008. Needless to say, it was REALLY dry by the time I put it on my lathe.

The bowl is now 180mm at its widest, and 75 mm high, and about 68mm deep inside with a couple of small filled cracks on the left inside. It is finished with Penetrol Wood Oil, and weighs (on kitchen scales) only 150 grams. I really would love to know what the wood is, if only for sentimental reasons, as it won't be sold or given away. Thanks for any help and any comments. Doug. :U
