Connection Suggestion - A Centring Scope Wiring Question

mardi 3 juin 2014

The Isoma scope I have has a metre long length of cable permanently connected to provide power to its four tiny 3.5V bulbs. The plastic bush ( for want of the correct word ) projection through the aluminium scope body won't budge. I have tried to unscrew it but without success so its removal will probably require its destruction. The bush is 12mm in diameter and projects about 5mm. I would estimate its overall length at about 10mm. The cable exiting the bush within the body of the scope passes close to the mirror mounting tube. Internal clearance is limited.

The purpose of this thread is to find out if I can obtain a cylindrical socket that would suit a low voltage power supply pin along the lines of the pins shown below. I perused a 2007 RS catalogue but couldn't find the type of socket I'm chasing. I visited the Element 14 site and quickly realised I'd waded in over my depth - http://ift.tt/1rFYBih

I could possibly make a 12mm diameter housing for a socket intended as an inline connector. Additional external projection from the scope body would not be an issue. The existing cable is.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
