New yawl rigged GIS in France, Pays Basque: Ahuntza

samedi 19 avril 2014

Hi

The wood I bought a kit from Icarai last year.

Waiting for an extension to my small house in Le Teich, Bassin d'Arcachon, close to Bordeaux and its wine castles.

But things went so slow that I decided to call the Escumayres Talasta for help.

They are a tribe of nice guys in an associative building site in Pays Basque, close to Bayonne, about 200km´south from Arcachon.

I met them last year, when invited to share a Sail&Oars navigation on Leon's Lake, with my beautiful and faithful Azalaï, à SWALLOWBOATS Matt Newland's great design.

That's when I made up my mind and decided to build her there, under control of Philippe Saint Arroman their naval carpenter.

Here is the draft of the blog following building process of my yawl rigged GIS, whose name will be "Ahuntza", meaning "the goat" in basco language:

I choosed to build the yawl version since I had a look to the great John Goodman's youtube videos sailing his GIS in Texas200.

I should translate it in english ASAP.

Waiting for your comments !

D'Jack
