My Outdoor Table (Easter Long Weekend Project)

mardi 22 avril 2014

G'day. Note this is my first project and by no means these details may are complete for some one to replicate what i have done. I am happy to help if you need direction. Thanks to couple of links here and external sites (ronhazelton, ana-white) i ended up building my very own outdoor table. All done with Merbau including posts and treated pine for support frame.

Table Dimensions :

2100 (L) x 1150 (W) x 800 (H)

Materials Used :

Treated Pine - 45mm x 70mm x 4.2m [Qty 3]

Merbau Decking Timber - 140mm x 19mm [Qty 12]

Merbau Decking Timber - 70mm x 19mm [Qty 4]

Merbau Post - 3m x 115mm x 115mm [Qty 4]

Stainless Steel Decking Screws - 10G [~Qty 50]

Galvanized Nails - 55mm [Qty 20]

Galvanized Screws - 200mm [Qty 10]

Galvanized Screws - 100mm [Qty 5]

Galvanized Brackets - [Qty 4]

Rough Steps:

Merbau Post Cut into four equal lengths ~750mm each. Cut the tenons.

Created a treated pine frame using 200mm Galv screws and couple of nails so frame stays intact.

Attached the legs to Decking Timber to form a box structure in tenons on three sides. Treated pine frame sat snug in the box and on legs.

Used 100 Galv nails and brackets hold the frame to legs and box.

Used decking timber to attach to the frame and cut any additional overhangs and complete the box on forth side.

Tips followed:

Looked for timber/treated pine that's straight.

Tools Used:

Hammer Drill & Impact Wrench

Counter sink bit

Compound Mitre saw

Hand Saw

Grips

Combination Square & Fat Pencil

Safety (Gloves ,Goggles, Mask, Ear Muffs...)
