Hello all, this is my first time posting to this forum.
I'm building a railing to separate the kitchen and living room in my split level house. I'd like to use four 2" square metal tubes for my vertical posts, with 3' spacing between them. I'm then planning on drilling holes through them at 4" OC all the way up, and sliding round metal rod through all of the posts. I'll tap the ends of the rods and put a nut on the end to hold them tight. It will sort of resemble a cable railing, but hopefully much less expensive. Question is, what type/size of metal rod should I use to span the 3' gaps between vertical posts so that it won't bend if children climb on it or what not.
So I guess my question is, what is the smallest metal rod I can get that can handle 150lbs when spanning 3' in tension?
Thanks for any guidance!
