I was re-stringing the lift cords on some venetian blinds for our landlords, an old Italian couple. They were arguing about something in Italian. Then Josie, this sweet old lady said something exceptionally nasty. Me, being from Brooklyn, New York, and understanding a little bit if Italian, sort of raised my head and looked over the top of my gasses at her.
Josie caught my look and said, "Oh, you understand Italian?" I responded, "Only the bad words." Josie started laughing and shortly her husband Mike also was laughing. The argument stopped.
For the next couple of months, every time that Josie saw me, she always said, "Only the bad words."
Those of you who want to know what was said, suffice it to say that it would be censored even in the OS forum. If you must know, it is in the opening card game scene of the movie, Titanic. How the expression got past the American movie censors, Movie rating board and the TV censors, I'll never know.
