G'day.
Here is a quick overview with pics of my hide glue set up.
I got a cheap $7 electric jug from Big W & I also found an electric fondue pot. (Can't remember the price, less than $30)
It has 2 settings & the high setting will hold the pot half full of water at a fairly steady 65°C.
I don't need much glue for the little bit I use it so I divided my pearls into 20g zip lock bags.
I found a coffee scoop that held 20mil of water.
To get started I put one scoop of water into one bag & left it to sit & soak the pearls.
While that was soaking, I warmed up some water in the jug & put it in the fondue pot & let it sit to stabilize.
I then submerged the ziplock bag in the warm water in the fondue pot & buzzed off to get a coffee.
While I was sipping my coffee, I'd take the bag out & massage it to mix the glue to dissolve all the lumps.
The end result was a small ziplock bag of liquid hide glue ready to use at 65°C.
The hot air gun you can see in the pic was used to warm the surfaces to be glued to give me just a bit more open time.
