Something hot and steamy...

My employer decided that I was going to the UK a couple of weeks ago, so guess where I'm posting this from.

I did get a concession that I could go through London so while there I popped into the London Water and steam museum. Situated in Kew (near some gardens of some sort) it is on the site of a former pumping station and staffed by volunteers who have done a phenominal job. It is worth pointing out that most of the engines they have are plumbed to steam, so you actually see them working (and smell the oil!)

This is a small pump currently under restoration. Almost all of the restoration work is done in their own workshops by the volunteers. This one needed a new gear and shafting
