A couple of snaps of my latest carving , it's in Lime & stands just under 6" tall.
The outline pattern was taken from the book "Carving Wooden Horses" by
Eric Zimmerman, a book which showed me when I was just setting out carving the true potential of using a pen knife alone to carve wood, there is little or no instruction within this long out of print book but I have never seen better carving whether it be from a knife or chisel of a horse . Those darkly lit grainy photos of his exquisite miniature horses inspired me throughout decades of carving - & I'm still miles away !
I wished there were a book like that to inspire future generations as to the possibilities of excellence using just a knife but standard are falling rather than rising in whittling books if Amazon is anything to go by.
