Hi all,
l was requested by my 5 year old daughter to make a new jewellery/keep sake box as her ever growing collection of necklaces, bracelets, and other stuff out grew the old one. So we went into the shed and found some pine that would fit the bill, all good I thought, then came the curve ball......I want it pink:o. Now I could of painted it I know, but I wanted to still see the wood, so I thought I would give dyeing a go.
This box is a first for me in many ways, the first box I have finished with hand cut dovetails that is not hiding somewhere out of site, the first time I have dyed (ubeaut red) wood and used shellac (ubeaut white shellac), the first time I raised a panel by hand (the lid) and the first time I have ever lined anything with paper.
so here it is.... Go easy on me....
A pine dovetailed box, lined with Japanese paper, dyed pink, finished with white shellac and furniture polish.
One happy girl
