Last year we made a bunch of simple ladybirds for the Childrens Hospital using a design that had a simple body and two wings that opened to reveal a cavity.
Here is a picture of a few that were made to this design.

I have modified the design a little and have come up with some variations on different owls, some that lay down and some that stand on their own feet. The local woodworking club donated a bunch of these to the Childrens Hospital and the kids love them. They are delivered unpainted as they get the kids to paint them in whatever colours they choose. This is a picture of the unpainted owls ready for delivery.

I have also made a few where I have finished them with an oil finish and have used various veneers to enhance the wings. These finished ones will be for the local whippersnappers and grandkids and even a couple of adults have put their hand up!
