The heading says it! Blackwood with kauri knot!
The blank was a baluster off cut 43 by 43 mm, I set the drop saw to 45 degrees leaving a bit 10 mm on the corner then measured the thickness of cut about 3.5 . Fired up thicknesser and machined kauri to 3.5ish and C.A was lavishly applied (I now have wood shavings glued to floor)
back to drop saw for next cut etc....
then threw it in lathe
next project will be rolling pin! But with more care taken and different glue
