The tool is good for taking off a lot of wood quickly and also with a bit of care can be used in shear presentation for a cleaner finish. The carbide cutters last well and when the edge is dulled you just rotate the cutter to present a new side. The shaft has decent heft and length allowing a good overhang for hollowing; it works well in pencil jars or lidded boxes to get a straight internal wall.
