I recently upgraded so I need to get this lathe out of here. I bought it for $300 less than a year ago and have since made some repairs and upgraded the drive center and live center.
It's a Hafco WL-18B. 1hp, mechanical variable speed, 1m bed, 300mm swing. It has served me well. I've even turned a competition winning piece on it, which I will also include photos of for proof.
The lathe has a few quirks. The camlock on the toolrest is worn a bit and requires occasional fiddling, the top two speeds make a pretty awful noise (the lower 8 speeds work fine), and the handle on the tailstock is missing its grub screw so you have to turn the live center expansion/retraction knob with pliers.
All of these can be fixed by someone who knows what they're doing. I guarantee that this is a functional, full-sized lathe and I have turned everything from tool handles, to cutting board feet, to furniture parts, to 10" hardwood bowls on it.
This lathe is perfect for something like a men's shed, a backup lathe, a son or grandson, or someone who is interested in turning but isn't sure about taking the leap.
Also includes a standard set of six HSS chisels.
Asking $150 for the lot. One hundred and fifty dollars and you can go home and turn something TONIGHT. Everything needed is included. :oo:
Pick up in Dutton Park, QLD. Willing to demo the lathe, explain the quirks it has, and help disassemble or load. Possibly willing to deliver for an extra $20 or so if within a reasonable distance.
Hope to hear from someone soon.
