Sheer Power Tools 14" Miter Saw Model CH - M14

I inherited this saw and it appears to be a good solid saw but one thing that I find un-nerving is the blade, when at the bottom of a cut, is very close to the left hand side of the slot in the base. With a little effort it is possible to make contact with the base.

i would love to know if any other members have the same saw or know of a fix to centre the blade in the slot in the base.
