Several years ago I saw on the TV news that someone had devised a computer program which calculated the best fit of shapes within a given area, so as to minimise waste.
For example the best placement of cut-out pieces on a sheet of board (e.g. 2400 X 1200) so that the maximum number of pieces of various shapes and sizes can be extracted from the sheet.
Is anyone aware of a free online program which will meet these requirements please?
