Thin kerf riving knife for laguna fusion

vendredi 25 septembre 2015

The growing popularity of good quality thin kerf blades e.g. freud etc has led to a problem. The riving knives and guard holders are too thick. So I've done some research, spoken to many people and some suppliers.

Some people have said they use TK blades with the old RK and say it works but that doesn't sit comfortably with me. So I found a company in USA
http://ift.tt/1Lc3l9w who make them, in brushed stainless steel, for $45 USD but I think they're the guard holder not the low profile RK. I have emailed them about shipping etc a few times but they're not good on replying. Another solution is to get one made from a metal fabrication type place and was quoted $200 from one place. Another option was to get the original or purchase a spare RK and have it (them) machined down and re powder coated from a similar metal factory. Haven't investigated that yet. Yet another solution which I've acted on is to get a blank zero clearance insert (made or bought) and insert a Microjig TK Splitter ($26 USD) http://ift.tt/1gVPEgQ These look pretty good, easy to assemble and make a good interim measure but at the end of the day I want a TK RK the exact same shape as the original.

Any Laguna Fusion owners out there who have a TK blade? If so what did you do about the RK. Any other clues or suggestions (and don't say use a normal blade)?
