I've just added a new diagram to the hip roof calculator on blocklayer.com, that shows the 4 roof segments flattened out, with all dimensions, angles and areas.

If you check the 'Roof Segments' box, it will include the diagram. (scroll down the page)
Enter a measurement into the 'Extend' box, and it will extend the segments (roof sheets) past the ends of the rafters (overhang at roof angle)
Drag the Roof Angle slider above the diagram to see it animate as the angle and dimensions change.
It might come in handy for smaller roofs (gazebos) or models, where you need to cut the individual roof segment sheets to size.
Does the Extend option and explanation in the diagram (and the whole thing) make sense?
