Best place to start research etc

lundi 12 janvier 2015

Hi all,

First post here and I admit I haven't had as much time to browse the existing threads here but I'm looking forward to getting a scrollsaw to cut wooden gears.

Actually eventually I aspire to making a clock and so I want to buy a saw that wil allow me to start scrolling and produce some shapes that I can do for my kids - sort of puzzle type things like a wooden duck that slots into an upper half and lower etc.

Basic toys - and since the gears are generally flat and thin I guess I don'nt need to do "blocks" as such.

I have played with routing using my dremmel and a routing table which was useful for some basic plywood stuff that wasn't accurate and I got some pleasing results despite the mount of the routing bit levering on the piece and therefore preventing an accurate cutting action.

One of the tips I read was to try some out at scrolling picnics - ie here - what sort of options exist in the northern suburbs of Sydney - or shops etc that would have real advice?

I will read around in the forums but if anyone has any initial advice or suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance,

Will
