Simple VFD connection for multiple switch locations

lundi 4 janvier 2016

When I rewired my recent addition of a Pear 3D Pantograph mill with VFD, I really wanted start and stop buttons in two locations on the machine. Since I mounted the VFD on top of the machine on a swivel, it was convenient to use the speed control and start stop buttons on the operator panel of the VFD.
However, it is not (at least not easily) possible to use both the operator panel AND external switches at the same time. The start and stop buttons on the VFD are also a bit too small to hit reliably in an emergency.
So my solution was to mount some nice large momentary push buttons directly below the VFD, and identical buttons at the other end of the machine.
Both sets of push buttons can start and stop the motor. Speed control remains on the VFD control panel.
In case anyone else would like to use multiple external control switches, here are the wiring diagram and parameter settings.
