So how do others do those shaftless crush grind pepper mills? Any tips?

I bought some recently thinking they would be fun, but am scratching my head about how to best use them. Have some half baked ideas, but also some questions.



How does one refill the pepper? Is the top pulled off all the time?



What designs have others done with them?
