Mitre saw stand/bench

samedi 15 août 2015

To make my table saw cabinet, I need to cut long piece on the mitre saw so I made a stand for it, well more a bench.
Design is very simple and apart from one serious brain fade, went together without problems in an afternoon.

The brain fade was is cutting the spacer pieces that seprate the base from the cutting surface. I measured the height on the base on the saw (76mm), added a few mm's, subtracted the thickness of the new bench top AND THE BASE from this and came up with a figure of 56mm. Of course I shouldn't have subtracted the thickness of the base as that's what the saw will sit on.
I'll have to add an extra layer of 12mm ply under the spacers to fix this.

A couple of hours work and $32 for a sheet of 12mm ply. not a bad way to spend the afternoon.
