Hey guys; after a few months of hunting around i finally found a hercus model A lathe to go in my shed; i used one of these machines in high school, and after a few years of looking around i decided its about time i try my hand at restoring a machine. i have done a SAIMP FTV-O mill previous to this but because its a 3 phase machine i have no way of running it at the moment. i picked up this model ARM built around 1972 from a local auctioneer for $200!! it is 3 phase, so i am going to have to re wire it with a VFD, while im there i figure i might as well go through it top to bottom, the cabinet needs new paint and some rust fixing, at some stage the tail stock has been interchanged with its older brother (serial number 14039) and as such needs re-shimming, fit new bearings to the head stock, new belts and call it good.
its no rolls royce but i think its neat to own a machine that is 20 years older than i am, and has years of stories to tell!
ill do my best to keep this thread up to date :U Cheers all!
