Last week I rotated the cutters in my 15" thicknesser for the first time (after about 2 years of use and putting used scaffold planks with embedded grit in em) and then used the machine with all being well. Went to use the thicknesser yesterday and seen bits of cutter laying on the thicknesser bed. ":oo:" I said. I had to replace a total of 20 broken/missing cutters (I'm glad I ordered 2 additional boxes of cutters when I purchased the cutter head). Before I did the rotation I read the instructions ie make sure no grit/cleanliness, let the set screw seat the cutter and torque to 40 to 50 lbs. Not have a small torque wrench I just tightened each screw to buggery using a small socket wrench... obviously I did something wrong:doh:. So I now have small torque wrench ($230) and replace all the missing cutters and reset all the other cutters to 40lbs. All now seem to be good :fingerscrossed:.
