I went visiting today . A local chap restores Steam traction engines and I visited his shed - workshop. Quite an educating experience .
He runs an old Macson lathe and a horizontal borer, radial arm drill and milling machines , all vintage machinery . He does the boiler repair work too, hot riveting and new tubes . He takes the Foden to rallies , by road , it runs on wood :U Anyway his big old Macson lathe has a puny single phase 1hp motor fitted ATM and I pointed him towards a VFD and more powerful 3hp 3 phase motor . He did a fitter turner apprenticeship. He showed me a Coventry ? die theading device he uses , it has the 4 dies ? held in a head and it automatically cuts threads to whatever length you set it to , very neat . Everything in the workshop is BIG and heavy .
