Picking up a Swedish made Stenbergs KLE combination machine

mercredi 6 août 2014

I have really been struggling for room in my double garage workshop. It is a split between metal workshop and wood so it is a tight squeeze. I have an Elektra Beckum spindle moulder which I have just sold, an Elektra Beckum jointer thicknesser which I have sold and a Wadkin BGS10. These were all beautiful machines but the space constraints meant that I could not work on larger projects since I also have a tool and cutter grinder, mill, lathe etc... squeezed in.

I came across a Stenbergs KLE 310 in good shape and will be picking it up in 2 weeks time. It is a compromise as it does not have a tilting blade or a tilting spindle on the spindle moulder but it is compact, heavy duty and has a combination of machines that I use frequently. I don't remember the last time I tilted the table saw blade or spindle moulder spindle so I don't think I am losing too much. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the pictures since this is not a machine people are familiar with since it is developed and sold for the Scandinavian and Finnish market. The machine weighs in at about 450 kgs and was the smallest industrial combination machine that Stenbergs produced. The model I bought was the final iteration and the most modern before Stenbergs stopped producing them. It sports a 310mm planer thicknesser, a 250mm saw blade and 30mm spindle for the moulder.
