New dusty modification idea

vendredi 7 août 2015

I've just purchased a 3hp dusty and am contemplating moving the blower and motor so it bolts directly to the dust bag flange. i.e. remove rectangular duct and mount blower and motor vertically. It would mean building a structure to support the motor about 1m of the ground. Would this be a good idea?

My reasoning is to;
1. remove one 90 elbow (ducting needs to go up to ceiling)
2. allow a straight length leading into the blower. I read that at least 2-3 diameters of straight leading into the blower reduces noise
3. Save space - I will be building an acoustic enclosure around the dusty and it is a bit tight for room.

My concern is that mounting the motor and blower 1m off the concrete will make it much less rigid (noisy?) even if a substantial frame is used to mount it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers
Mike
