Turf for south coast NSW on sand

Parents have renovated a house at Jervis Bay, NSW and I need some advice on what turf to use and if there needs to be any soil improvement done. the soil there is sand, namely dirty sand. By that I mean sand with some organic material in there and in some spots it is pretty grey in colour. Buffalo is the lawn growing there at the moment and has been for 30+ years. If anyone is from that area and have some supplier recommendations that would be appreciated too. Is it OK to lay turf on a very sandy soil?
