Timber for outdoor table

lundi 13 octobre 2014

This might not be the right place to ask but I am sure that someone will have a good answer.

The current "hexagonal gazebo" project is in progress. Just in case I run out of things to do before Xmas, SWMBO would like to get a new table to go under it... however wants one that extends from seating six to seating 10+. If they exist, they are outrageously expensive, so "Can you make one?" Yes, easy to design and make to size but the question is what timber?

The easiest (and most readily available) is 50x100 RH treated pine. It can be a bit rustic and doesn't have to look like dining room furniture, however the RH "grooves" are unacceptable and we want it stained, not painted of course. So I am after suggestions re an appropriate timber. Since we are out in the sticks I am after something that is dressed, fairly easy to get hold of, not outrageously expensive, and will withstand exposure to the weather (but be somewhat under cover).

All suggestions re type and "where do you get it" gratefully received.
